Throat cancer includes cancer the upper part of the throat behind the nose (nasopharynx), cancer of the middle part of the throat (oropharynx), cancer of the bottom part of the throat (hypopharynx) and cancer of the larynx (voice box).
“About 70% of oropharyngeal cancers—cancer of the back of the throat, base of the tongue and tonsils—are caused by human papillomavirus, or HPV. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in US estimates that about 3,500 new cases of HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancers are diagnosed in women and about 16,200 are diagnosed in men each year in the United States.” – moffitt.org
Human papillomavirus, HPV is an extremely common virus transmitted through sexual contact. There are different types of HPV known. A few of the known HPV are now strongly linked to throat cancer just like they are linked to cervical cancer. These few HPV linked to throat cancer are considered high-risk types.
In the past, the doctors used to link throat cancer mainly to smoking and alcoholism. But now, according to modern researches, many cases of throat cancer are now being linked to HPV. Also, from the available statistics, HPV throat cancer mostly affects men. All these HPV throat cancers might not be unconnected with the prevalence oral sex.
If the prevalence of HPV throat cancers in men actually comes from oral sex, this would not be a surprise considering the relative size of the opening in the women’s private part in comparison to the opening in the men’s joystick.
For those who are always in the habit of giving head during sex, especially those with multiple sex partners, you need to have a rethink. Throat cancer has taken a new dimension. It’s no longer business as usual.
It should be noted that many innocent people have fallen victims of throat cancer despite the fact that they don’t smoke, they don’t drink and they don’t give head during sex. There are a host of other factors that could lead to throat cancer. So, if someone dies of throat cancer, do not conclude that the person smokes, drinks or gives head during sex.
